As of the 2014-2018 time period, three-quarters of Seattle residents were adults between 18 and 64 years of age, with an especially high and growing concentration of young adults ages 25 to 34. The following chart is based on estimates from the 2014-2018 5-year ACS estimates because we do not yet have estimates for detailed age groups from the 2020 Census. The 2020 Census count for Seattle included 106,841 residents under 18 (about 14.5% of our total population) and 630,174 residents aged 18 and over. Between 20, Seattle's adult population increased more quickly than our child population, continuing a trend seen in previous recent decades. Age distribution: The 2020 Census data available thus far include only two broad age categories: children (under 18 years of age) and adults (age 18 and above).Between the 20 censuses, the average number of people per household in Seattle decreased slightly from 2.06 to 2.05. While American Community Survey (ACS) estimates suggest that this trend reversed during the middle of the past decade, the 2020 Census shows that Seattle's average household size has resumed a downward trajectory. Household size: Decennial census data show that Seattle has experienced a downward trend in average household size for decades.that grew by more than 100,000 people in the last decade, as highlighted by the Census Bureau in releasing the 2020 Census Redistricting data: Seattle was one of 14 cities in the U.S.Seattle's population growth between 20 was also faster than the 17.5% growth in King County as a whole, 16.8% growth in our broader metro area, 14.6% growth in Washington state, and 7.4% growth in the U.S.Seattle's 21.1% growth in population between 20 was more than twice the rates of growth the city saw over each of the two preceding decades.Seattle's population grew rapidly between 20:.and has the largest population of cities in King County, the broader Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Metro Area (itself the 14th largest metro area in the nation), and the state of Washington.
